I’m Sarah

California girl through and through. Born and raised on the sunny Central Coast, I’ve spent my days chasing farmers’ markets, mastering the perfect avocado toast, and dreaming up new ways to turn simple ingredients into memorable meals.

Cooking is the art that sparks our memories and unites our hearts—each recipe a story, each meal a celebration. Yet somehow it takes five hours to prepare, five minutes to savor, and five eternities to conquer that sink full of dishes.

A Little About Me

I started this blog after graduating college with a passion for sustainable living. Fresh out of school, I realized I needed a creative outlet that blended my love of good food with my commitment to caring for the planet. Here, I get to share the recipes, tips, and kitchen experiments that bring me joy—and hopefully inspire you to cook more often, too.

Although my mom is Moroccan and I visit family there each summer, I’ve grown up eating classic American fare 90% of the time. So while you’ll occasionally spot a pinch of warming spices in my recipes, most of what you see here is rooted in California comfort: fresh produce, easy weeknight meals, and desserts that hit the sweet spot without requiring a pastry degree.

My Food Philosophy

  • Real Ingredients: I believe cooking starts with what’s in season. When strawberries are at their peak or heirloom tomatoes are bursting from the vine, that’s when the magic happens.
  • Simple Techniques: No fancy equipment or intimidating methods—just straightforward steps that let the flavors shine.
  • Balanced Indulgence: Life is too short to skip dessert. I strive for a balance of nourishing veggies and the occasional chocolate-studded treat.
  • Sustainability Matters: I’m always looking for ways to reduce waste—whether that’s turning veggie scraps into broth or choosing reusable storage over single-use plastic.

What You’ll Find Here

  • Weeknight Heroes: 30-minute dinners that feel like a hug from home (hello, skillet nachos!).
  • Brunch Favorites: Fluffy pancakes, savory frittatas, and build-your-own breakfast bowls.
  • Sweet Moments: Cookies, bars, and simple cakes you can whip up without a mixer.
  • Fresh Twists: Seasonal salads, bright dressings, and unexpected pairings to liven up your plate.

Other Things I Love

  • Beach Days: Nothing recharges me more than a morning surf session or a sunset walk on the sand.
  • Hiking Trails: I’m happiest with a trail map in one hand and a water bottle in the other—bonus points for mountain views.
  • Books & Podcasts: You’ll often find me curled up with a thriller or listening to a food-culture podcast while I prep dinner.
  • Coffee Runs: I take my latte art seriously—and I’m always on the hunt for the best local coffee shop.
